CBU is designed to give each student an intense biblical foundation directed by the Holy Spirit. Our objective is to sow the Gospel into the hearts of the students with faith, hope and love, equipping them to reach the harvest effectively. The students are taught to develop good study habits, to learn how to use reference books, and dig into the Word of God. Here they will find the wisdom, revelation and understanding needed to develop a successful Christian life and to achieve ministry goals as God directs. Students receive anointed teaching and learn to receive the Word into their hearts, rather than just head knowledge of God’s Word. This school, through the power of the Holy Ghost and the grace of God, changes lives. Students must come spiritually hungry, expecting a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ, to fully reap the benefits of attending California Bible University. Our course design is to supply a full range of Bible School knowledge, coupled with a working relationship with the Holy Spirit. We expect to impart a life of faith, an attitude of continual and indestructible hope, a holy life zealous to know Jesus, and an unfailing love that makes the students of God’s word stand out as lights in a dark world.
The CBU teaching staff is committed to creating a learning environment where God’s Spirit is active, and leaders are produced with a heart of God and a burning passion for the lost. We provide our students with a solid biblical foundation and equip them with practical Christian training. Through our training and mentoring emphasis, we endeavor to nurture mature character and help each one fulfill God’s will for their lives.
Our objective is to cultivate the gifts, talents and ministry potential of each student within the context of the local church in preparation for future ministry.
Values deeply held provide both orientation and motivation. The following is a sampling of some of the values that define and guide our mission:
It is our firm conviction that God wants every believer to become more like Christ, conformed into His image and His likeness. This necessitates prioritizing change above other interests. CBU is committed to being a place that fosters spiritual growth in an intentional way. Students are encouraged to be responsible for their attitude, spiritual growth, and character development.
Students working toward a certificate or a degree in any program are required to maintain a “C” (2.0) grade point average. All academic work is graded according to the following system:
| A | 90-100 | 4.0 | Superior |
| B | 80-89 | 3.0 | Excellent |
| C | 70-79 | 2.0 | Good |
| D | 60-69 | 1.0 | Poor |
| F | 0-59 | 0.0 | Failuer |
| W | Withdrawal | (within the first 5 weeks of quarter) |
| WP | Withdrawal Passing | (after 5 weeks, student’s grade status will appear as passing or failure) |
| WF | Withdrawal Failure | (will appear on student’s transcript as a failure) |
| D | Drop |
Required classes that result in a failing grade must be repeated. The failure will then be omitted from the grade point average on the student’s transcript.
Tuition and book fees are due at the beginning of each term unless payment arrangements have been made with the CBU office. Students may pay by cash, check, money order or credit card. Please make checks payable to CCWO.
The cost for each year of the program is as follows:
| Application Fee | 25.00 | (one-time non-refundable fee) |
| Registration Fee | 75.00 | ($25 per quarter) |
| Class Fees | 50.00 per unit | |
| Audit Fees | 25.00 per unit |
Full-Time – Tuition for full-time students is $800 per quarter, which may be paid in full or in a three-payment schedule as follows: (does not include application or material fees)
If difficulties arise in following the agreed upon payment plan, please contact the CBU office as soon as possible and we will endeavor to make new arrangements with you.
The cost of seminars will be $25 including lunch and materials. Seminar fees are due on or before the day of the seminar.
If a spouse is also taking classes, the spouse will receive a tuition discount of 25%.
A Bible and notebook are required daily. All courses use the Bible as the main text and many require only the Bible as your textbook. Some courses may require supplemental materials. The registration form lists the required materials for each course and the associated costs. If a course is dropped, materials cannot be returned for credit.
We are seeking to make scholarship positions available. Students, friends and graduates sometimes pay tuition and material fees for a student. Gift certificates for courses are also available. Anyone desiring scholarship help may present a written request for consideration.
Students may choose to join a work program sponsored by CBU to earn credit toward their tuition. The work program consists of performing various services in exchange for tuition credit. Students may elect to work during the school year or over the summer and will receive credit based on the number of hours served. Anyone desiring to join the work program may present a written request for consideration.
Students may audit any course desired. Auditing students do not take exams or complete assignments for credit and are not bound by the attendance guidelines. A decision to audit a class should be considered carefully since the student cannot change status to receive credit mid-course.
If a student must drop a course, the following schedule will apply:
Cap and Gown fees are approximately $50.00 per student.
Report cards, graduation diplomas and/or transcripts cannot be released until all tuition fees are paid. Students are also not permitted to participate in the graduation ceremony until the fees are paid in full.
